We wanted more growth. There are only about 100,000 people who are looking to buy or sell established businesses at any point in time, so the potential market for a business-for-sale website is actually quite small. Compare that with the vast numbers of people who use social networking sites. For example, 100 million people visit LinkedIn every month.
Our growth at the old site was also limited by churn - we lost 14% of our paying customers every month. That's because most buyers are looking to buy a single business. They sign up, search for a business to buy, and then cancel when they find one. We think there will be less churn with the new site because business people have an ongoing need for networking.
